Mariana MoraLatin America Communications Specialist
Mariana has more than seven years of experience in corporate communications, public relations and event management. She leads the multicultural and bilingual PR work at O’Malley Hansen Communications and counsels companies with global operations, especially in Latin America. She has led and supported projects that include trade media outreach and social media support for Tyson Food Service, employee engagement and internal communications for Fortune Brands Home & Security, event management for Anheuser-Busch, and influencer programs for Eat Smart, among others. She speaks English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
As the public relations and communications leader for HanesBrands Latin America, Mariana’s deep understanding of key target audiences and consistent brand communications has helped raise HanesBrands profile and strengthen the company’s brand identity in the U.S. and internationally. Her role has also evolved to support the Hanes Internal Communications and CSR website by creating a story pipeline resulting from the news and programs taking place in Hanes’ Latin America facilities.
With the emergence of multinational companies, international supply chains and globalized brands, a communication strategy for U.S.-based companies with offshore operations is more relevant than ever. Mariana believes a single story can be told in multiple ways and a message can be successfully delivered if it resonates with the intended audience, which is why multicultural communications is so relevant to the public relations practice. Delivering a successful message implies understanding the audience’s language – not just the spoken language, but the cultural language.
Mariana was born and raised in Colombia. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from Medill at Northwestern University, and a bachelor’s degree in literature with a minor in law from Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia. Mariana is the Secretary of the Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) Chicago Chapter, a national membership organization representing forward-thinking PR practitioners with interest and/or expertise in the Hispanic market.
